Assessment Profiles

When you open the database you will be expected to type in the password. As a teacher, your password is "pet". This will give you the access to the necessary information to assess your students.

  • Open the database. First you'll put in the password.
  • Second you will see the splash screen for five seconds and
  • then the identification screen.

If you have the correct database the screen will ask you if you're a certain teacher. An answer "yes" continues the process, an answer "no" quits the program. Click on "yes" if you are the teacher that is identified here to continue. If you are not, click on "No" and check with the office.

This navagational box will be on the first page of each database.

Action Menu

The next screen is the Action Menu. When you come to this screen you have several options that are outlined for you.

"Score a New Assessment" should be clicked when you, the teacher, are ready to score your pupil's assessment.

"Edit a Previous Assessment" is used when you have to edit a child's assessment when a specific assessment tool has been used.

"Verify Student Assessment" is used when all assessments are completed and the choice is made to verify the appropriate assessment for a student's standards.

"Print a Report" would be used if you as a teacher wanted to print out a report that gives the summary of a student or a class assessments.

"Define Assessment Tools" will probably not be used by the teacher. By clicking on that button a new database is open that would allow some editing of assessment tools. This database should already be complete in accordance with the District's Assessment Plan.

"View Standards" will allow the teacher to review the standards as proposed by the State of Nebraska.

Score a New Assessment

When an assessment has taken place and you're ready to score your pupils open the Assessment Profiles, put in the password and click on yes.

You will see a new screen appear that asks for the class name that you're assessing. Once you put in the class name, click on the continue button on the right.

The next screen will ask you to select assessment tool name. When you click on that field, the names of the assessment tools and the standard numbers will be listed. Choose the appropriate name and number and you'll be at the date field. There put in the date when the assessment tool was used. Click on "Continue" when you've filled in the fields.

The next screen is the assessment screen where you put in the assessment for each of your students. Notice first that the names appear BLUE. The color will change to BLACK when you've made the assessment. That way you will be able to see quickly if you skip someone. If someone was missing, you'll be able to come back when they've completed the tool. (See "Edit a Previous Assessment") The assessment should follow the parameters determined earlier when the tools were inputted. Simply click on the "Beginning, Progressing, Proficient, or Advanced" for each student that you are assessing. You will also be able to put in the raw score if desired. When you've completed the assessment, you can choose to go back to the Action Menu or to the Reports menu.
